El Spiral (Amarillo), 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 108x80 cm, Peru.

An eternal sign of the creative and organizing principles at work throughout the universe, the Spiral, is central to the artist's conversation and interpretation as an intuitive symbol of spiritual development. The Spiral here, created with the sacred Anaconda, expresses both circumambulatory and oscillatory movement experienced through the Shamanic journey.

El Spiral, 2021.

Acrylic on canvas, 77x69 cm, Peru.

El Spiral is the visionary journey of the shamanic practitioner, sitting central within a continuous spiral of snakes, butterflies and hummingbirds. The artist is connecting us to the continuous movement and evolution of life, simultaneously an internal and external cycle of transformation. Within the canvas are captured the artist's personal connections to this profound and deeply spiritual symbolism.

El Cocodrilo Negro, 2024.

Acrylic on Canvas, 150x80 cm, Peru.

Connecting itself to the flow of life, The Crocodile spirit energy is tenacious and full of power. A reminder of the cumulative strength we gain through her qualities and teachings. The artist created this dynamic composition in honor of El Cocodrilo Negro, a revered apex predator endemic to the Amazon River Basin. Predators are viewed as peaceful keepers of the balance of life.

El Cocodrilo Negro is the common name for the Black Caiman, the largest species of the caimans; and the largest predator in the Amazon River Basin. Adults have no natural predators besides humans. They are named for their dark-hued skin, which is an adaptation supporting them as skilled nocturnal hunters.

El Spiral en Visión de Ayahuasca, 2023.

Acrylic on Canvas, 98x70 cm, Peru.

Similar to El Spiral (2021), we see again the visionary journey of the shamanic practitioner, sitting central within a continuous spiral of snakes, butterflies and hummingbirds. Yet, here, we are given a different perspective. A reminder that within each of our personal journeys there is ever more to explore and understand inside of what appears to be the same or similar imagery, symbols, and themes. The artist is connecting us to the continuous movement and evolution of life, simultaneously an internal and external cycle of transformation. Within the canvas are captured the artist's personal, and evolving, connections to this profound and deeply spiritual symbolism.

La Curación, 2023.

Acrylic on Canvas, 98x67 cm, Peru.

Here we see the Shaman working in ceremony with someone in need of healing, with the female family member present as a witness. The Shaman is working with tobacco, smoked in the ceremonial kashimbo pipe. Tobacco is a master plant teacher, present at most ceremonies, as one of the most powerful protectors and movers of energy, providing us with a direct line to the consciousness of unconditional love. When used in right relationship, tobacco can restore our memories that we are already healed. Calling upon Ayahuasca's spirit allies of the animal kingdom: the boa, the jaguar, the hummingbird, and the butterfly; and protected by the sacred fire; we witness the artist's deep understanding and lived experience of how all the elements and energies of ceremony come together, focused through the skill of the Shaman, to provide unparalleled healing.

Flor de Ponido, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 95x70 cm, Peru.

Celebrating the universal connections and symbiosis of sacred plant medicine and Shamanic ceremony, this intricate composed work expresses the artist's vision of the Maestro's divination. This powerful plant teacher, Flor de Ponido (or Toé) is central to, and of paramount importance in Amazonian Shamanism.

Each plant a shaman works with holds its own unique frequencies for teaching and communicating with human consciousness.

Visión de Ayahuasca, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 70x96 cm, Peru.

The spiritual journey of the Curandero, Maestro, takes us into another dimension and space as the artist visualizes this transcendence. Supplanted with animal totems (Jaguar, Pink River Dolphin, Boa, Hummingbird, Butterfly) and plant medicine, this vibrant collage fuses many of the sacred elements that combine to facilitate the ‘replanting of the Spirit’.

Visión de Kené, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 80x60 cm, Peru.

Representing the world-view of the Shipibo-Conibo of the Ucayali, this intricate Kené spiral illustrates energy pathways, the cosmos, and all of nature's connections. Visualized during plant medicine ceremony, the Kené patterns are both healing and therapeutic, and here express the symbiotic resonance of the artist with the spiritual environment.

Árbol de Apacharama, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 104x60 cm, Peru.

Themes of joy, good fortune and personal expression are explored here by Roldán, and represented by the bird spirits he envisions. Giving life and sustenance to all that surrounds. the árbol (tree) itself is seen as opening to the spiritual realms beyond, and is central to many ceremonial practices of the Shipibo-Conibo.

Otorongo, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 128x109 cm, Peru.

This striking composition illustrates the mystical union and transformation of the Maestro and the protection of the spiritual jungle, with the Jaguar envisioned as a fearsome guard. The Otorongo stands below the meditating Maestro, while cosmic layers of patterns and forms enshroud the central characters.

El Curandero y Sus Protectores, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 145x78 cm, Peru.

The healer is honored within his community, in commune with a montage of his animal totem guides and medicines. The artist is conveying the complexity of the intertwined journey he takes. Layers of reality and perception are traversed.

Manta Raya, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 50x60, Peru.

Full of insparation and creativity, this majestic river creature imbues qualities of intuition and calm. In Shamanic ritual her energy is called upon during transmutation and acts in emotional support of the practitioner.

Jaguar, 2023.

Acrylic on canvas, 104x90 cm, Peru.

Rich in detail, this visionary landscape unites the valorous Otorongo and their environment. Sacred plants, trees and vines suffuse the landscape and represent the natural harmony of fauna and flora and the significant importance each has to offer.

Árbol de Whyuruo, 2022.

Acrylic on canvas, 77x53 cm, Peru.

The Árbol de Whyuruo invites us to consider the duality of strength with delicacy. The powerful hardwood trunk of this healing tree offers its refuge to the bounty of mystical seeds and leaves; each element being an important resource of the shamans' medicine, diet and art. This is the first in a series of three canvases from the Árbol collection.

The seeds of this tree are collected and used for protection and cleansing in sacred art, jewelry, and ceremonial instruments. There are male and female trees and both seeds, although carrying different energetic frequencies, are used with equal reverence.

El Árbol de Whyuruo Macho, 2022.

Acrylic on canvas, 146x66 cm, Peru.

El Árbol de Whyuruo Macho depicts the sacred tree carrying male seeds and offers a vibrant and beautiful composition of natural harmony. Two nesting birds signify unity and protection of flora and fauna. A critical tenant of Amazonian indigenous culture, each element is familiar to these healers, from the sacred medicinal hardwood of the Whyuruo to the visionary properties of the twisting vines. This the second in a series of three canvases in the Árbol collection.

El Árbol Whyuruo Hembra, 2021.

Acrylic on canvas, 130x76.5 cm, Peru.

El Árbol Whyuruo Hembra depicts the sacred tree carrying female seeds and speaks to the artist’s holistic view of his natural surroundings. We see a fully realized expression of the essential qualities of the powerful and spiritual medicinal tree, with its position reaching upward, outward, ever growing and learning. This reflects the beliefs and life system of those indigenous to the rainforests where these magnificent trees thrive. This is the third and final canvas of the Árbol collection.

Visión de Lagartija, 2021.

Acrylic on canvas, 105x79.5 cm, Peru.

Visión de Lagartija symbolizes birth and regrowth, and centers around the transformative lizard. This spirit animal confers good fortune, protection and prosperity. The accompanying creatures: the snake, hummingbirds and butterfly, are companion spirits who often cohabit both in nature and the spiritual realm. Each offering its unique quality and guidance, the snake for adaptability and wisdom, hummingbird for love and healing, and butterflies for space and perseverance.

Manta Raya, 2022.

Acrylic on canvas, 71x67.5 cm, Peru.

Manta Raya is a striking canvas dominated by its central character, the river stingray indigenous to the amazon and its tributaries; this majestic creature teaches lessons of practice, restraint and protection. Sacred to shamanic culture and revered for its wisdom, it can live for over 100 years, the artist is reminding us to look at a bigger picture and exercise calm and patience as we navigate life's ebbs and flows.

Paiche, 2022.

Acrylic on canvas, 49.5x146 cm, Peru.

The Paiche, also known as the Arapaima, is a revered fish native to the Amazon basin. It is considered a symbol of unity in Peru and grows to be one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. In Peru, the bigger the fish, the more it represents unity among the people. The meat of the Paiche is prized for its delicate texture and flavor. Its scales are often used to make beautiful jewelry and home decor. The Paiche is a powerful symbol of Peruvian culture and tradition.

Arapaima has mythical connections to the ancient chiefs of the Amazon, and is considered the reincarnation of the chief’s cast-down son. Reborn to be the King of the River, the artist has expressed through this piece the sensual nature of this magical creature and its importance within the river ecosystem.

Cosmovisión, 2022.

Acrylic on canvas, 122x101 cm, Peru.

Cosmovision is an evocative and richly symbolic canvas inviting us to journey into the spiritual visions of the artist. His amazonian ‘worldview’ is a playground for some of the many creatures and spirit animals that both provide for and guide the indigenous inhabitants of the Peruvian Amazon. Earth- dwelling shamans and river-dwelling Sirenas share this other-worldly realm, Las Sirenas are believed still to this day and are revered and feared equally. Representing protection and guidance when in harmony with her surroundings.
