El Maestro Meditador, 2023.

Intricate themes and powerful symbolism are gathered in this radiant vision. Through the practice of meditation, and with the ceremonial use of the sacred plant medicines within, the Maestro moves through dimensional fields, making and strengthening spiritual connections. A methodical process of making dyes from natural plant resources allows the artist to express his cohesive visions through these mediums.

Vibrant and dynamic, this intricate composition explores and develops the traditional Shamanic story. Surrounded by a kaleidoscope of color and rich texture, the scene brings together the vital essence of the ancient ceremony. Sacred Toé, Ayahuasca and lotus flower, combine as one. Animal totems; the jaguar and Owl support and protect as celestial bodies illuminate the dark jungle skies.

A “Cosmovision " worldview is expressed in this layered bioluminescent composition. Female energy, sisterhood, and oneness are central to the theme. The globes speak to the endless cosmos and are powerful Shamanic symbols. Magical plant medicines suffuse the painting, and bind the vision in a rich and electric pallet of natural paints and dies combined with acrylic.

In traditional Shipibo lure, the elusive river dolphin is said to entrap the spirits of the native women who have succumbed to their seduction. Hoping to find a way back to their human spirit, the dolphins lure fishermen and women into the lagoon. Rich in meaning, and illuminated with vibrant color, the story is widely believed within the indigenous Shipibo community.

Lupuna Planta Madre, 2024.

Growing throughout the Amazon, the mighty Lupuna tree is revered for its many health giving qualities, vitality and life energy are celebrated as locals gather to hunt, work and play. Overseen by the wise and enchanting Owl spirit, this work conveys a sense of everyday life, expressed through the use of natural and sacred plant dye extracts upon the fabric canvas.

Malocas Entre la Mariación, 2024.

Often used as a central ceremonial space, the wood thatched malocas form the central theme to the artist's vision. Geometric forms move and transcend the landscape, enhanced with luminous color and traditional plant dyes as the medium.

The literal “narration of history “is a vital element of community life. Wisdom and experiences are shared by elders in this traditional gathering. With many stages unfolding through medicinal ceremony, this scene speaks to the reflection and understanding that forms the integration and closing of these rituals.

A deep and complex composition, the artist is inviting us to enter his multidimensional vision. Moving through time and space, all life becomes one. Each character, animal or plant is intrinsically intertwined with the other, skillful use of many natural ink mediums are employed to express this United view.

Intricate connections of male and female, flora and fauna and the layered realms of our spiritual journeys are skillfully expressed in this unique work. The various mediums incorporated are found in the surrounding jungles and rivers, used medicinally, and ceremonially. They include pinón colorado, matiko, tatikina, ayahuasca, toé, and mahogany bark.

Reminding us of the indivisible connection of all living entities and the power of self-exploration, the artist has created this canvas as an expression of the oneness of the Amazon. Spirit totems and animal guides, ceremonial/medicinal plants and flora and the practicing Maestra meld within a single form. Many natural dyes and inks are extracted in the process of creating the mediums utilized on this canvas.

Five faces of “Mother Earth” observe all around her, accompanied by her animal guides, the hummingbirds, and many of the jungle’s “spirit” plants. Angel trumpet, transformative vines, and lotus flower are central to the energy and vibration of this deeply symbolic art piece. Multi-mediums are naturally extracted inks and dyes represented by the flora within the composition.

Central to the theme, “mother” sits crafting her bordado, these sacred kene textiles represent ancient cultural skins passed through many generations. Infused within this are the plants and vines whose extracts are the medium used upon this canvas. A story of industry unfolds, through support for family and community, as each task is undertaken with determination and love.

Employing time-honored skills of dye extraction of many different plants, roots, barks and vines. These are utilized in the process of creating the actual materials used upon the canvas. The elements he unites within each transcendental artwork creates a singular harmony.

The sacred flora, including Mahogany Bark, Pinion Colorado, Ayahuasca vine, Toé and many others, are honored as they are incorporated into his work, often taking many weeks to prepare. With a deeply respectful understanding of his tribal heritage and natural environment, Wilfredo continues generations of artisanal expression with his immersive art.
